This is one of the quickest desserts you can prepare when you crave for something sweet. There are so many variations with regards to fruits being used and the ingredients that is used for topping. Here I have used very basic ingredients and the following measurement serves two. I used a standard size ramekin from Tesco. Serving is easier if you make in individual ramekins.Incase if you wanted to bake in a bigger baking dish increase the quantity kindly adjust the measurements to suit your needs.
Also couldn’t click step by step pictures since this was the first time I prepared such fruit crumble I wasn’t sure how the outcome will be 🙁 I promise I shall soon make this again with different fruit combination and shall upload the pics 🙂
Equipments needed :
A wide bottmed bowl, A non-stick pan, 2 ramekins or oven safe mugs.
Place a baking tray inside the oven and preheat at 180c (Since I used ramekins I am using a baking tray to place them. You can preheat without tray if you are not using ramekins)
Brush the ramekins thoroughly with butter and place them aside.
Ingredients for filling :
- Medium Sized Pear – 1
- Blueberries – 10
- Strawberry – 10
- Butter – 1 tsp
- Sugar – 1 tbsp
Method of Preparation :
- Heat butter in a non-stick pan and add sugar.
- Sprinkle little water and once they start to caramelize add in chopped pears.
- Let the pears be cooked for 4-6 minutes.
- Turn off stove and add whole blueberries, randomly chopped berries on the pan.
- Since we are going to bake in oven we don’t have to cook the berries on stove top.
Ingredients for Topping :
- Plain flour – 1/4 cup.
- Butter – 1 tbsp.
- Demerara Sugar or Brown Sugar – 2 tbsp
- Cinnamon Powder – a pinch
- Nutmeg powder – a pinch.
Butter has to be cold if you are baking. So make sure it is in the refrigerator.
Take flour and butter in a wide bottmed pan and rub them with your fingers.
Keep rubbing until you get a bread crumb texture.
Add in demerara sugar and the spice powders.
Give it a mix.
Now fill the bottom half of buttered ramekin with fruit mixture.
Fill the top half with flour mixture.
Bake for around 20 minutes. Incase if you need darker brownish topping then bake it for about 25-30 minutes.
Pears berries crumble is ready to be served.
