Ingredients

  1. Take a frying pan and pour little oil in it
  2. Add channa dal,urad dal, cumin seeds and fry until they turn golden brown. Grind them to fine powder.
  3. Then pour 2 tbsp of oil to the pan and then add curry leaves,onion,chopped garlic,tomato.
  4. Saute them for about 4-5 minutes.
  5. Add tamarind pulp and little water. Later add salt,chilli powder,sambar powder and leave it for around 10-15 minutes. Make sure to keep the gas in low flame.
  6. Close the pan with the lid.After sometime when you open the pan you will notice a change in colour of the gravy.
  7. Now add the powder that we prepared earlier and coconut milk.
  8. Let it boil for about 2-3 minutes. Now karakuzambu is ready to be served.
  9. After adding coconut milk, the gravy should not boil for too long. The taste will be ruined. Keep this in mind while preparing.
  10. Superb and authentic chettinad karakuzambu is ready to be served. You can also add u2018mochaiu2019 (not sure what is the name in English) along with potato while preparing this recipe.
