I love onepot meals. Easy to cleanup and less mess in the kitchen. This is my fool proof Pulao recipe. When unexpected guests arrive we can manage without panicking and since it can be prepared within 30 minutes, a great time saver too. I didn’t have cauliflower so didn’t mention it in the below recipe. However if you have, do add 10-12 florets.
Please note that quantity of water is the most important thing while cooking basmati rice. If you add too much the rice will be mashed up. In general 1 cup of basmati rice requires 2 cups of water and not more than that. In this recipe I have added 1/4 cup of water while boiling vegetables and then added 1/4 cup of plain milk for flavor. The remaining 1.5 cup of water was used later when i added the rice.
