Rava Idly
I have been relying on MTR Rava Idly mix until last week when I decided to prepare it from scratch. It took around 10 minutes to prepare the battar. Such a simple dish and it is tastier and colorful than the plain idlys. The following measurement serves two.

Ingredients
For Tadka :
Instructions
  1. Heat a frying pan with 2 tbsp of ghee and one by one add all the items mentioned under “For Tadka”
  2. Let them splutter and then add Rava. Mix it with all other ingredients and let it be in the pan until you get a nice aroma of semolina.
  3. Remove them from the pan and transfer it to a bowl. Let it cool down to room temperature.
  4. Mix curd, coconut, coriander leaves and water to the above mixture. Make a slightly thick batter
  5. Add salt, lime juice and baking soda to this mixture. Lime and baking soda helps in fermenting the batter and also the idlis will be smoother.
  6. Now grease the Idly plates with cooking oil.
  7. Place grated carrot, tomatoes on the plates and then pour the batter.
  8. Pressure cook the idlys for about 10 minutes. Let it cool for another 10 minutes.
  9. Colourful rava idlys are ready to be served with any chutney. I prepared coconut chutney and hence its in the pic.
