  1. Pressure cook Rice + ToorDal together with a pinch of salt, turmeric for upto 5 whistles.
  2. Grind coconut, tamarind, coriander seeds & sambar powder to a smooth paste.Add little water while grinding.
  3. Heat a tsp of oil in a thick bottomed pan, add shallots first. Saute for a minute or then add Drumstick, Carrots, Beans and potatos.
  4. Add 1/4 cup of water, a pinch of salt & turmeric.
  5. Let the veggies get half cooked. It will take approximately 5 minutes. Later add thin tamarind extract,coconut paste and let them boil in low flame for another 10 minutes. The raw smell of masala will go off.
  6. At this stage, add the rice+dal mixture on the pan. Keep stirring and so that the rice doesn’t get stuck at bottom of the pan.
  7. Adjust salt and after 5 minutes you could see that rice coming together.
  8. Finally before serving prepare tadka add it on top of the rice.
  9. Heat ghee in a Tadka Pan, add mustard seeds, jeera seeds. Let them splutter Then add hing, redchillies and curry leaves.
  10. Flavorful tadka is ready to be added on Sambar Sadham. Garnish it with coriander leaves.
  11. Two weeks back, I prepared Curd Rice along with this delicious Sambar Sadham and served it with banana chips & MormiLagai
