Broccoli Koottu
Broccoli & Lentils based gravy that can be served as a side dish to Rice or Roti.

Ingredients
Instructions
  1. Soak Channa Dal in water for about 20 minutes
  2. Grind together Grated Coconut, Dried Red chilli and Jeera to a paste. Add water while grinding
  3. Wash Broccoli florets in warm water
  4. Turn on ‘Saute’ mode and add coconut oil
  5. Add Mustard seeds, Urad dal, Curry leaves. Let it splutter
  6. Add Broccoli florets. Saute for a minute.
  7. Add Channa Dal, Masoor Dal and Coconut Jeera Paste. Add 1 cup water, salt, hing and turmeric
  8. Mix everything well
  9. Turn off ‘Saute’ mode and Turn on ‘Pressure Cook’ mode
  10. Set the timer to ‘8’
  11. Wait for 3-4 minutes and manually release the pressure. This is how it looks
  12. The bottom of the pot looks like this
  13. Now add 1/2 cup of water. Adjust salt
  14. Delicious Broccoli Channa Dal koottu is ready to be served with Rice
Recipe Notes
  • The same recipe can be made without Instant Pot too. 
  • Steam Broccoli separately, pressure cook Masoor Dal+Channa Dal together, prepare coconut paste
  • Mix all the three together and atleast add Tadka
  • If you want to serve the same dish as a side to Chapathi you can also add Onions,Tomatoes and Masala Powders. This variation tastes delicious too
